Durga Puja, the word takes me in the flash back of my life when I was a kid and always used to force my father to buy new cloths for me. Now the thing has changed but the excitement to celebrate Durga Puja is same. In India, Durga Puja keeps special place in the heart of devotees and people loves to worship Maa Durga in their own way. It is considered as one of the main festival amongst various. In fact it is more than just worship, a time to celebrate our culture, traditions, neighborhood, life and rituals. Even you can also say that it is a time to reunite to spread love and friendliness.
It is the most
holy festival for Hindu and is celebrated across the world. But it is a major
festival in the eastern part of India like West Bengal, Orissa, Assam, Bihar,
Tripura and Jharkhand. In Tripura and West Bengal it is celebrated with full
enthusiasm and energy. Furthermore this exciting festival is also celebrated in
Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and etc.
According to
Hindu mythology, every year Durga Puja is celebrated in the month of September
and October. A great history is also associated behind this celebration as it
is said that a powerful monster called “Mahisasur” was killed by Devi Durga who
was just treating badly with people and trying to make its territory.
Durga Puja is
recognized as one of the greatest carnival and social and cultural event
amongst the Bengali in West Bengal region. The carnival is celebrated for ten
days and during the existence you can experience only liveliness and
spirituality. Devotees worship Durga Mata in order to rescue them from all the
evils of the society. On this occasion people performs several cultural
activities portraying the character of various god & goddess and demons.
So, whenever you get chance to see and celebrate the Durga Puja, must do it, it
is a great fiesta which stand for the triumph of kindness over sin.
